the Wall Movie

I am a brand new PF fan, I have listened to the Wall a few times, and I'm wondering if I should watch the movie. I've heard good things, and also things along the lines of "the movie will ruin the album for you". Any help?

I think seeing the Wall will make you realise a lot more about the album. I must admit I never knew Bob Geldolf was in Pink Floyd, although I did wonder how he became famous before Band aid.

Basically it's a load of old toss, worth watching once but never again.

The remixed sound is certainly clearer (while still not great) but still I prefer the original mix. The rough sound was far more thrilling and apropriate to the wild times when it was recorded. Most of all the brilliant lead guitar is mixed way too much in the back now, giving way to the vocals which now dominate the scenery. And as this soundtrack was monument to an exciting guitar player it has now lost much of its significance.

I have the new DVD version, the original VHS and my favourite edition, the cheap Brazilian DVD, which is more or less just a copy of the VHS but so I get the best of both worlds: The original sound mix plus the conveniance of playing a DVD.

Bob Geldof wasn't in Pink Floyd. He had his own band, the Boomtown Rats, before he did the self-righteous Live Aid deal.

The Wall movie will clear up some natural ambiguities of the album in a similar fashion of Tommy and its counterpart. Which, depending on the person, may or may not be a good thing. You just have to ask yourself, how much imagination do you want left?

The "Comfortably Numb" scene is just too cool! And The Trial one too with the Judge looking like an "ass"...

No one knows what they are talking about on amazon,
unless you want to read the novels people write for reviews.
