Duplicate Threads

I am really getting sick and tired of people "warning" new members to "use the search function" in an effort to avoid duplicate threads...

My reasons are as follows:

1. The search function does not always work
2. The new "poster" could have some valuable questions and/or insights to a previously covered topic that has been heavily bogged down with posts entirely unrelated to the original topic.
3. Fresh insights should always be welcome
4. If people are not inclined to view what they would consider to be a "duplicate thread" I would strongly suggest that they quite simply do not read it.

Quite frankly, I cannot see what the problem is. I am very happy to see new and mixed views from new members, and would go as far as to welcome any and all new threads regardless of their similarity to previous threads....

Lighten up people...

Ironically, this is a duplicate thread.

Re: Duplicate Threads

I couldn't care less about the so called DDT's, quite frankly.

They can post their questions/insights in that thread. There is always going to be posts unrelated to the original topic, no matter what thread it is in.

Nobody said fresh insights weren't welcome, only that you should post them in the threads already made about that topic.

If you're saying people who don't like DDT's shouldn't read your thread, then you might not get as many replies as you'd like.

Re: Duplicate Threads

If you'll notice, the DDT thing is posted in the rules and guidelines, therefore people who post threads like "Your favourite Floyd album" within their first 10 posts have clearly not read the rules and guidelines, which really, is a mistake in itself.

The search feature works fine. In fact it's one of the best ones i've seen on a forum anywhere. Multiple ways of finding exactly what you're looking for.

DDTs take up bandwidth, in turn slowing down the site for you. One or two DDTs won't do much, but over time they add up.

Darksideofoz covered the other main points, thanks for that btw. So my suggestion is, Wildman, bite the bullet and get over it. If you don't like the rules, go find another site.

cheers

It does however make the board very stale.

Re: Duplicate Threads

Try adding a few grams of Citric Acid, Lecithin, and Sodiun Pyrophosphate as perservatives, to prevent spoilage and retain freshness.

Otherwise, sprinkle gently with water and microwave for 15-30 seconds.

mmmmm nice!

So as everything has been said, what do we talk about? After all Pink Floyd aren't exactly busting their asses making new material.

Re: Duplicate Threads

Well, there are these things called forums.... and if you don't think there is anything to talk about, then why did you come here in the first place?
