Status Quo and boogie rock

I recently bought a CD entitled: "Status Quo - The Singles Collection 1966-1973" It's got some really nice psychedelic stuff on it. Anyhow, I guess they changed their sound after '73 and pursued "boogie rock". I've searched alot of places, but I can't say any give a good definition of boogie rock. So... I was wondering... what is boogie rock, and does anyone recommend any other stuff by this band?

Don't get anything after Rocking All Over The World. They were pretty good back in the '70's, these days they're a bit of a joke, frankly.

Re: Status Quo and boogie rock

Cheese is probably right. They seemed almost apologetic about the music on the cd I bought, and I loved that cd... so whatever direction they went in, probably isn't that good.

They used to be a great rock band but for some reason they degenerated into a bad pop act.

Re: Status Quo and boogie rock

I think I can enlighten you as to the use of the term 'Boogie Rock'.The term 'boogie' originated in the 1970's in the UK. It was used by menopausal women who would quaff vast amounts of brandy and Babycham ( an alcoholic beverage....) and then preceed to dance round their handbags at the local disco. Dancing round the handbags is an old British custom. Anyway... It was the era of Glam rock and Marc Bolan and Mickey Finn were heard to say " I love to boogie" in one of their catchy T.Rex tunes. The phrase stuck, and everyone jumped on the bandwagon Quo, Bowie, Mott the Hoople. The term 'boogie' is still used in rural parts of England where time has stood still such as the village of Ambridge in Dorset. Hope this clears the whole thing up!
