If you have heard any new/old bands that arent popular, list them here and tell what kind of music they play. I'm lookin for some good bands to listen to.

The first band I always try to recommend to people is Porcupine Tree. They've gotten some decent discussion on here. They're actually coming out with a new album at the end of the month...great time to get into them. I find they appeal to Floyd fans, not because they sound similar, but because they have that unique and abstract style, like Floyd had.

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown - the inspiration for all shock rock acts from Alice Cooper to Marilyn Manson.....and this was from the 60's!

Can - great avant-rock band from Germany, might have influenced Radiohead. One of the few prog rock bands acknowledged by punk stars, and speaking of...

Magma - Jello Biafra says this is the most intense prog rock band ever. A bunch of French musicians got together and made up their own language to document the sci-fi tale of Kobaia, spread out over multiple albums. They sing their tale over a mix of Soft Machine-esque jazz-rock, Wagner-esque pomposity, and chilling minimalistic melodies. Get Mechanik Destructw Kommandoh for a slice of Zeuhl (that's the name of the style they made up) madness.

Well done Fletch! They were an excellent band, and 'Wildlife' is still one of my favourite albums.
