Question about the guitars
Hi, everybody! New menber, first thread!
will you please tell me what is the type of Fender guitars which david gilmour has been used(meeans which his favriate fender is )?
and,he has a black guitar(not fender nor acoustic guitars),what the brand is ?

Hey, didi, welcome aboard!

Dave mainly uses Stratocasters.

The black one you're referring to is a Gretsch Duo-Jet of late '50's vintage.

I believe he also has a Taylor guitar of some kind, and on ABitWpt.2, he used a Les Paul.

You're talking about the red one:


1984 Fender Stratocaster ---'57 reissue.
Candy Apple Red
w/ white pickguard
Shortened tremelo arm
maple fretboard
EMG SA pickups, (active)
EMG EXG expander (bass and treble boost)

Stratman's right onto it! I got myself a DG 20 pickup set, and it really does sound exactly like s DG strat.

Nah, depends. If you want the sound from WYWH, Animals and DSotM, the EMG's won't give you the same "feeling".
But that's my opinion.

I also read an interview with Dave where he said that he rarely used the one same guitar during a tour, and that he had several strats that he used. This due to the great risk of the guitars being stolen or broken.
