Re: Pros/Cons? Pink Floyd Reborn as Studio Unit

"oh nos, I can't sing Time and Money without sounding exactly the same as I did in the seventies. No Pink Floyd fan wants us to do a tour again with out 100% pure and authentic vocals. Wrap it up guys, there is no more Floyd going on."

Ok. Dave's voice is not the same as it was, but I think you're demanding a bit to much if you want his voice to be exactly the same as it was on the recording.
IMHO Dave sings quite allright on Pulse. They did sell out concert venues all over the world, didn't they?
And if you're judging his voice over the recent Gilmour live dvd you have to keep in mind that he probably hasn't sung in a long while.

I would bet that if Dave really put his heart into it, and people gave him enough time, he could manage to do a world tour. By people giving him enough time I mean no "7-days a week touring for six months" mayhem. I think people would be quite satisfied with 2-4 concertdays a week with a week free once in a while.

You have to remember, it's Pink Floyd - There has been no new real releases or tours for 11 years, but they would still be able to deside the tourdates and how many venues to play. People would go crazy if they only did a 10-20 days of concerting in a row in f.ex. Royal Court or Wembley/Wembley stadium. I would pay half my yearly income for attending a Pink Floyd show.

I recall the "Some Kind of Monster" dvd by Metallica, James Hetfield clearly writes down a rule that he needs to be home with his family by 3PM each day during studiorecording, and while on tour he wanted to be at his home many days a week. James Hetfield is about 40 years old... He can set time-boundaries on touring, rehersals and touringtime - Why can't Dave and the rest of Pink Floyd?

They have. The boundaries are: stay at home and don't tour.

I don't think the reason the TDB world tour sold so well was the tagline "Dave's Voice Still Sounds Great."

I thought of a *con* as to Pink Floyd being reborn as a studio unit; Dave's vocals would probably have endless studio work done to them, and the critics would be complaining "Gilmour's vocals are buried under effects", etc.
