Re: Shall I Buy "Radio KAOS?"

I've never been interested in solo material, but Roger Waters must be a definite exception. I sampled it on...ugh...CDNow, and it sounded great, BUT--I've read about the concept, and how complex it is to understand. Does he really manage to grapple to the concept in 8 songs? Do the dialogue and Jim Ladd announcements overshadow the music? Should I even buy it? (Stop asking things!)

Re: Shall I Buy "Radio KAOS?"

I think KAOS is the least likeable of his three solo efforts. Have you heard the other ones? I would strongly recommend Amused To Death if you wanted to start somewhere.

Re: Shall I Buy "Radio KAOS?"

Okay, I see your point, but "Amused to Death" is about the violent side of the world isn't it? Isn't that a topic that he's covered more times than Polly Samson's had to write lyrics for Dave because he didn't know how?

Re: Shall I Buy "Radio KAOS?"

Um...yeah...the themes are farely familiar. But the music has a new feel to it. Definitely some awesome songs on that album. Can only imagine what it would have been like if Gilmour, write and Mason had contributed.

Re: Shall I Buy "Radio KAOS?"

Do you mean the part about Mason, Wright, and Gilmour in a good way or a bad way?

You should get Radio Kaos and enjoy the groovy 80's music. I think it's good, especially 'the Tide Is Turning'.

Re: Shall I Buy "Radio KAOS?"

Okay, much appreciated. But still, there's one question. Does the dialogue between "Billy" and Jim Ladd I've read about overshadow the music?

Re: Shall I Buy "Radio KAOS?"

I meant it would have been better with the other three.

Re: Shall I Buy "Radio KAOS?"

No. Just like Gilmour's stuff is lacking in the lyric department, ATD lacks a bit in the music department. Jeff Beck does some really nice guitar work work though. And the duet with Don Henley is worth a mention too.

Re: Shall I Buy "Radio KAOS?"

It's "what God wants".

So you better buy it, if you know what's good for you!

Fears,

Mark
