It probably couldn't hurt to check out the Rockies once you get to this side. I'm sure it'd be quite amazing to someone living in Britain to see such large mounds of rock!

We have 'the rockies' here too. But they are over on the other side of the country.

It's a most excellent collection of museums!

And don't blow it off thinking "Pah! It's just another bloody museum!"

It's a collection of museums all defined into one geographic locations - from pre-history to aerospace and engineering! It'll take you a couple of days just to wander hurredly through them all. Quite bloody interesting

By the by: The whole thing was founded by James SMithsonian, a Brit scientist

One word: Arizona. I mean the state is, frankly, packed with natural wonders never seen anywhere else:

The Grand Canyon (nuff said)
The Meteor Crater (aka Craters of the Moon) 1-mile wide
The Petrified Forest (prehistoric rock solid tree fossils)
The Lightning Monument (stand on a bluff overlooking during leccy storm)
California on it's western border.

Yes indeed!

And if you get there, check out nearby Bryce Canyon, Zion Nat'l Park, Monument Valley in Utah.

Yellowstone Nat'l Park in Wyoming

Mt. Rushmore near Rapid City, South Dakota.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Re: Peewaks big adventure!!

While you have probably already left, packed your bags last night and are high as a kite by now, I'll offer my two cents.

In Florida, skip Ft. Lauderdale and go to Miami, South Beach is where it is at. Also go along the gulf coast, beatiful. Come up north, the Eastern seaboard is a bit touristy but excellent beaches. I have never been more north of Syracuse, but that is a beautiful city. NYC is also a great place to be, but perhaps a bit more time and planning is needed for you to enjoy it.

If you happen in through PA don't be afraid to look me up, I can show you around either Philly or Pittsburgh. Pitt is farther from me but much nicer than Philly. Also I am the APFFN resident Amishmen so a tour of the PA Dutch can be done, though frankly I feel you wouldn't be interested.

Out west there are some very beautiful and marvelous natural sights. Grand Canyon-esqu type things going on. I rather say, if you plan on getting high, which I don't in any way condone, you do it there.

Vegas is a stop you must take, but I wouldn't go with more than a few hundred dollars. Having just visited there, I can tell you that most accomodations can be made for free, and the gambling is addictive. So once you lose the little bit of money you have and the casinos stop comping you, high-tail it out of there. Don't reach for your bank card.

Lastly, I have to say, despite the fact that this is a bit corny, that you should stop and smell the roses. Live a bit in the little towns. The heart of America truly is in the neighborhoods and small towns that are slowly disappearing. Despite the cliches that the rest of the world hears about us, we really aren't all that bad (I guess we are a lot like the French, after all).

I can fully attest to this

Oh and NNJ, north of Syracuse is Watertown. Then? Canada.

See, nothing mroe to it!
