I didn't think he had the best voice, but I feel they had no choice but to have him sing. They couldn't have Roger Waters sing because he has that very wild voice that only he has and they really could not put him in the movie because they look nothing alike.

It still looks like he's lip-synching to me.

My problem with Geldof's vocals was that by the time I saw the movie, I had listened to the album many, many times, and I was expecting to hear Roger's voice, lip-sync'd by Bob. So the screeching rendition of In the Flesh was a rude, unwelcome surprise.

This is just my personal opinion, but I can sum my feelimg up in two words....

Geldof sucks.

I never liked "I don't Like Mondays"
The Rats belong back in the sewer where they came from.
He ruined "The Wall".

IMO.

I think the only Rats song I ever heard was "Up All Night". I was underwhelmed.

It wasn't the lack of a cohesive storyline.
It wasn't the bad music.
It wasn't Roger whining about his dead father.

It was Bob's fault all along.

I find Bob's acting brilliant and his singing isn't that bad. At least he can get the notes with some venom in his voice. I think saying he spoiled the film is going too far.

slag the wall all you like, but bob, alone, on the floor, with his little black book, singing stop... it broke my heart. and this is having just seen him as a nazi. that's a hard character to create sympathy for.

I was horrified my first time through. I mean, missing Hey You and The Show Must Go On was also a bit of a downer... but listening to Bob Geldof lip sync his own part was a bit too much...

However, the movie despite these flaws, rocks. I still watch it and discover new things with every viewing, appreciating the complexity of the whole piece and then picking bits out of bits... a lot like they do with literature and stuff... oh the possibilities!
