Post Subscriptions to APFFN

Dear Floydians,

As you are well aware, we have a lot of costs to maintain the All Pink Floyd Fan Network online. While we do our best to provide you with the best service, by recently moving the website to a dedicated server, for instance, unfortunately, there is no such thing as free lunch, and such things cost quite a lot of money. Unfortunately, we cannot support the APFFN only by displaying banners.

We held the possibility of contributing to APFFN for over a year, unfortunately with dismal results. We have now rolled down a new subscription system, where subscribed users have a lot more benefits than just not seeing advertisement.

Unfortunately, we had to cut back on a few of the privileges that regular users had. On the other hand, subscribed users get much more. There are two subscription levels: Silver tier, for those who prefer to pay monthly, and Gold tier, for those who prefer to pay anually.

We have tried to keep the subscription prices as low as possible and we believe they are more than fair. After all, for the price of only one hamburger, you get full access to all of APFFN features for one month. And for those who prefer to pay anually, they not only get a few more features, but also an added discount - about 18% off of what they'd pay monthly for one year.

One last thing, we will keep our word for the people that have donated under the old system. As such, we have turned those few people into "Contributing Members - Gold Tier" and they will be so for as long as we exist. I think it's only fair to do that. Thanks to those who helped us and thanks to those who are thinking of doing so.

When do these changes take effect, i.e. when does my avatar revert to a site-supplied one, & c.?

I have a credit card but I'm confident my life wouldn't be worth living if I used it to subscribe to a website.

People who had custom avatars before changes will be allowed to keep them. However, if you try to change them to another custom avatar, you won't be able to.

You can only pay via paypal and that requires a credit card.

You could also use an e-check, PayPal takes that as well. Seriously, if you really want to subscribe, we could work something out, such as an international money order or similar method. PM me if you're interested and we'll find a way to do it.

I've chosen to go with PayPal for two main reasons: 1) they are the most well-known payment processor companies, one that a lot of people have learned to trust; 2) we pay for our dedicated server using PayPal, so the money that comes from subscriptions just stay there until the next billing cycle, which makes things a lot easier.

And I was wondering why I was not able to change my Avatar. Noticed that my "Supporting member" status had disappeared
