Lucid Dreaming

I was reading about lucid dreams tonight. For those of you don't know, it's basically being aware that you're dreaming and being able to control the dream world. Apparently you can do all kinds of crazy things...

I was reading all these tecniques on how to induce lucidity in your dreams. I really want to try it and I hope it will work. Has anyone ever had one? What is it like?

I think I had one once. I just know that i KNEW i was dreaming. I even told people "I'm dreaming, it doesn't matter what I say to you". It was more of a "no consequences" mindset rather than "i can do bizarre things".

Re: Lucid Dreaming

oh god.. if FWr was here she'd tell you all about it, and how much better it is than drugs, blah blah blah.
Anyway, it's an interesting concept, but I don't think I've ever had one nor would I know how to induce one. To me, it just sounds like day dreaming a lot.

cheers

Re: Lucid Dreaming

I've had dreams where I know I am dreaming, but I never tried to change the dream. I usually just went along with whatever was happening in the dream.

Re: Lucid Dreaming

I once dreamt that I was eating a very large chicken, complete with feathers. The surprising thing was, that when I woke up my pillow had vanished!!

Re: Lucid Dreaming

I've had quite a few lucid dreams....and to be honest I remember being absolutely frightened to death and wanting to get out of them.

I was lying there in bed, very aware that I was in a different mental state, or different kind of world and unable to get out of it. The surroundings are always the same, but I remember consistently hearing things behind me and not wanting to look...it's almost a spiitual state. I just didn't want to know what it was my imagination had cooked up and what I would see if I turned around. It's extremely diffcult to awake from one of these...it's almost as if I'm moving in slow-motion, forcing myself to get back to an awake state of reality. Really bizarre.

I have no idea how you would purposely have a lucid dream, however, the one common theme I've experienced when having them was that I was extremely, extremely tired at the time I fell asleep...(like I had pulled an all-nighter the night before.)

Re: Lucid Dreaming

i have never had a lucid dream. I think they are just something everybody lies about. Like masturbation or alien abduction. Both of which I've experienced often, btw.

Re: Lucid Dreaming

Wow... I am so stoned right now, it feels like this is a dream (a lucid dream), except it isn't.
