| PC Technology I built my computer 2 years ago, and I'm getting ready to upgrade, but PC technology has changed so much. Now we are talking about DDR memory, front bus speed, and PC2100, 2700, etc. Does anyone know a good site that explains the latest PC technology? My main concern is compatibility. I don't want to buy a new motherboard, CPU, and memory, to find out they don't fit together (kinda like putting a Chevy engine in the Cheesemobile). Any info would be appreciated. Cheers.

| Re: PC Technology The last one I built for me, it went something like this: 1. Figured out the best processor I could afford. 2. Found the best motherboard that supported that processor. 3. Downloaded the manual for the motherboard, and looked up what memory, disk interfaces, etc. it supported. 4. Went to order all that stuff, and found out I exceeded budget. Picked processor two models down from the original, and started over. Your mileage may vary.

| Re: PC Technology Also, www.tomshardware.com has pretty nice articles on all kinds of computer equipment and devices. www.neoseeker.com is a good place to look for reviews.

I am sure the good doctor would be highly offended at the thought of desecrating his vehicle with a Chevy engine.

| Re: PC Technology Thanks for the info guys. The links you posted were helpful. I read an article that said AMD will be moving to dual core processors. Maybe I can pick up a cheap single core motherboard when dual cores are released. Thanks again.
