'Have A Cigar' vocals

The official lyrics read "I've always had a deep respect and I mean that most SINCERELY"

But Roy Harper sings "I've always had a deep respect and I mean that most [unintelligible]"

Who knows what Roy was singing?

Also, what does everyone think of Roy's singing? Do you wish Roger or Dave had done it or do you think he did a pretty good job?

Roy Harper sings it perfect. A lucky choice.

Re: 'Have A Cigar' vocals

I think he sang much better than Roger or Dave would have. The song needed a voice suited to the song, but also a voice that was unfamiliar to Floyd fans. I just can't imagine the song sung by anyone else.

How is it unintelligible?

There's a discussion on the pros and cons of the Floyds' voices in and around this song over here.

Re: 'Have A Cigar' vocals

Hmm, doesn't sound to me like Roy sings 'sincerely' at all.

Re: 'Have A Cigar' vocals

yes it does.. it just sort of sounds like he's left off the "ly" so it sounds like he's saying "sincere" it's as simple as that, but if you listen to it carefully it sounds just fine.

Anyway.. those vocals are perfect for that song.

cheers

Re: 'Have A Cigar' vocals

It needs an outside vocalist to fit in with the context of the song. Not sure whether anyone could have done a better job maybe Vincent Price for a laugh.

Can you imagine Roger's interpretation?

Re: 'Have A Cigar' vocals

Fair enough, I guess Roy just pronunced it a little oddly. Vincent Price would be a hillarioous cover.

Like, you mean a 'Dr Phibes and the House of Wax Equations' duvet set styled thing?
