Has anyone ever told you that you are Holden Caulfield

because lately a bunch of my friends have been reading the catcher in the rye and all of them have came up to me and said that i am holden caulfield that he is me i am him.

do we have some other people here that are like him.

because those people are beginning to piss me off

"Catcher in the Rye" was a bit overrated, I think, but overall, quite a nice read. And no, nobody ever told me I am Holden Caulfield. I guess you should be proud of it, though.

There are a lot of angst teenagers who could be compared to Holden. It's certainly nothing unique. The reason the book is so widely read is because of this.
Indeed, to be uncomparable with Holden is something more unique.

I agree with Paulo that the Catcher in the Rye is slightly overrated. But it is a great book and Holden is one of the few characters that once you read the book will be forever in your memory. Very few characters in modern literature are half as memorable.

All the time. I'll be walking down the street and people are like, hey man, it's Holden Caulfeild, than they ask for my autograph, then they start stalking me. I'm glad you are here to take some of the pressure of me.

I'll be walking down the street muttering about phonies and about how I don't want little kids to grow up, and then it just happens.

I suppose the female equivalent would be Sylvia Plath in The Bell Jar?
