I mean songs written by each of the members on their own. This stems from the discussion on "the narrow way".
Roger - If, Pigs on the wing (and 'sheep' if you don't count Dave's assumed contribution)
Dave - Fat Old Sun
Rick - The great Gig in the Sky
Nick - uh..... I guess that would have to be Speak to Me.

Let's see...this won't be easy!

SB--"Bike". Reminds me of stories of someone I know, back in their starving-student days! Makes me laugh!

NM--Does the "checklist" bit during "Learning to Fly" count? It was his first SOLO flight (besides, it's just cool).

DG--"Sorrow". Very effectively creates a mood...and I don't see why everyone bashes the lyrics; I think they really get the job done.

RW--Tough choice..."Set the Controls" is his most "balanced" piece: coolest music plus good lyrics.

RWr--"Wearing the Inside Out". Deeply personal reasons.

This is, of course, insanely difficult, since during the group's peak through the 70s, they worked together a lot more than the writing credits suggest. But I assume you've already taken that into mind, so on with the show...

Gilmour - well, if you don't count good ol' Polly's contributions, High Hopes.

Wright - although only Another Brick in the Wall Part II could be more radio friendly, Summer '68. I ordered Broken China on Amazon.com, and it told me it'd take two to three MONTHS to get here. Gah!

Waters - dunno...most of the Waters songs I like have Dave on vocals or providing the song with an unforgettable guitar solo. I don't want to go through the band's entire catalog to find a song Roger alone is responsible for, but I really like Waiting for the Worms right now for some reason, so I'll go with that.

Barrett - oh, I have no idea, honest. Not everyone can get into Piper, obviously, and I'm a victim of that. I'd hate to go with an obvious choice like Astronomy Domine, so I'll just leave it at "I have no idea."

No WAY! Two to three MONTHS?

When I ordered it from amazon.com, I was told about a month--but it showed up in almost half the time!

IMHO, it's worth the wait.

Roger Waters- Welcome to the Machine (San Tropez was a close second though!)

David Gilmour- On The Turning Away*

Rick Wright- The Great Gig in the Sky

Nick Mason- Speak to me

*Screw Polly, Moore, and Laird Clowes!
Nobody should be afraid to put Post-Water album songs down for their Gilmour pick. Those people are not or never will be musicians.

Satan--Nick Mason, despite the credit given, is not the composer of "Speak to Me." According to Waters, "He wasn't even in the room when it was written." But as for Mason, my favorite lone contribution of his is "Ummagumma's" centerpiece, "The Grand Vizier's Garden Party, Parts 1-3." I love it!
As for Richard Wright, my favorite of his would be a close tie between "The Violence Sequence" and "See-saw"--despite the fact Wright was never happy with "See-saw," but then again what WAS he happy with?
For Roger Waters...whew! There's the entire lyrcs to DSOTM, "Grantchester Meadows," "Several Small Species...," I love almost anything he wrote! "Have A Cigar," "Set the Controls..." Need I say more? I think we all know there's just too many to choose from!
For David Gilmour, I'd have to say "Sorrow."
Oops, forgot Syd Barrett. I'd have to say, most definitely, "Jugband Blues."

Is "The Violence Sequence" a RoIO? Or do I know it by another name? Hey, if it's Mr. Wright, I'd LOVE to hear it!

And don't feel alone for loving See-Saw! It's a really neat little song...when he talks about floating down a river, I really feel like I could BE there...how peaceful...! I can just feel all the stress leave me when I listen to some of his work.

What WAS he happy with?

Broken China. He is really gaining a lot of confidence in himself. He's not becoming cocky--not at all: just a bit more confident. There's a fine balance there, and I think Mr. Wright has found it. Quite admirable, really. (Honestly. I'm not being sarcastic.)

'The Violent Sequence' is an instrumental piece with a duration of almost 20 minutes. It was made for the film 'Zabriskie Point', but not used. It was played live for the first time in Birmingham February 11, 1970. You can recognise parts of several songs, including 'Heart Beat, Pig Meat' and what would later become 'Us And Them'. Another part of the song was later played live and called: 'Corrosion'.

The recording of 'The Violent Sequence' can be found on the bootleg: 'Violence in Birmingham'.

As for my favourite "solo" songs:
Syd: Lucifer Sam
David: The Narrow Way
Roger: Set The Controls Fot The Heart Of The Sun
Rick: Remember A Day
Nick: whatever

Yes FloydWaters, I've noticed Wright's pride in "Broken China"--a wonderful album I've heard--one of the few things he was happy with. I hear he wasn't even happy with his singing voice, though his is my favorite of Pink Floyd. I've noticed how Wright says he wasn't satisfied with a lot of his (early)stuff with PF, for example "Remember A Day", "See-saw" (I LOVE the way he softly and almost in a meloncholy voice sings the opening line, "Marigolds are very much in love..."), and "Summer '68." All of those are great songs. I find Wright to be a mysterious person.
I would have just said "Us and Them" was my favorite of his, but of course Waters stepped in. And seeing as how "The Violence Sequence" was an early longer version of "Us and Them", it's gotta be great.

Actually, Mr. Wright was rather more pleased with his voice on Broken China, if I recall. He said he felt free to experiment and develop a style he liked. Would you care to read some interviews? I can point out a really cool site (not mine) where you can, if you like.

But I must say, I LOVE the sound of his voice on his other albums, as well. Gentle, not overwhelming...lots of fun for me to sing along to. (He and Thom Yorke of Radiohead are my two favourites for singing along.)

Talking Head, if Nick wasn't even in the "room" when it was written why he is he given sole credit to the song, did they feel sorry for him
