the beatles

I think McCartney was more influenced by Pink Floyd than he let on. Anyone else see a bit of Interstellar Overdrive in Helter Skelter?

Re: the beatles

Mmmmm... I just see 4 guys on heavy drugs letting all hell break loose... the recording was so acid-based that it's hard to believe they had any plan about how to make it sound.
And it turned out veery different from the oriniginal Paul demo

Re: the beatles

I can't say I thought "Interstellar Overdrive!" while I last listened to Helter Skelter. A bit more specificness would be appreciated if you expect anyone to actually look into this.

Similarities between Helter Skelter and Interstellar Overdrive?
No, I don't think so...

Re: the beatles

well it is hard to say overrated but yes muscially i think they were okay, not amazing by any stretch of the imagination. They were trend setters, without them you would not have Pink Floyd, Led Zeplin, and any other band you might think is better.

Re: the beatles

Maybe it's because I'm from Liverpool , we do tend to get beaten over the head with them on a daily basis here , they've even renamed the airport "The John Lennon Airport" recently !! I agree they were trend setters but I still don't think they deserve all the adulation that gets heaped on them.

I don't know , I suppose I'm just bitter and twisted

Re: the beatles

They're quite good, actually. Except for a few of the early albums.

look at Elvis was not really anything too great at all but he was a trend setter so he is now known to be the "King" which i think is a load of crap, i mean he died on the toilet . . . kind of interesting way to sum up his life huh?
