Song Set

Hi all , I'm new in this site.

Its great to hear that Pink Floyd are re uniting for the Live8 concert in London

With all the squabbles they've had one would have thought Waters would never want to be seen on the same stage as Gilmour.

But better sense has prevailed and the fact that this is for a cause has aided in putting their differences aside.

However I'm dying to know the set they will perform.

I'm thinking Money , Comfortably Numb , One of these days, Welcome to the machine and Shine on.

Your thoughts ......

Re: Song Set

Welcome to the machine yourself!
I bet it will be something along those lines, without Shine on though, too long for this type of show, I pray to god that they don't perform abitw pt.2.

Thumbs up Re: Song Set

Hi there!! I'm a noobish myself. Great to hear this, best rock news ever! I wonder how long is the set for each act. I hope they play an hour show at least.

Cheers.

Re: Song Set

I'm going to guess and say "What God Wants" followed by "Far From the Harbour Wall." Then "There's No Way Out of Here" and, saving the best for last, "Can't Get My Motor To Start."

Re: Song Set

I see , you think one song from each one's solo album.

I would have to disagree. This is a Pink Floyd set and I think they ( and the public , too ) would like to stick to what they've done as a band.

I agree with Brad though, SOYCD is too long , so maybe Not Now John.

Waters wouldn't want to do anything from Momentary .. or Division Bell as he was not involved in these projects.

Re: Song Set

Yeah, I was just taking the piss, but I think it'd be interesting. Sort of a neo-Ummagumma-esque thing.

Re: Song Set

My guess is something from DSOTM, something off WYWH, something of the Wall, and something unusual. Guessing further, I would say: Money, Wish You Were Here, Run Like Hell, and... hmmm... maybe a compromise... Maybe something off the Division Bell, but changed. Lots of the songs on that are generally world peace oriented... Let me REALLY go out on a limb and say they keep the music of one of the songs of TDB and Roger makes new words to address the issue at hand and call it a "new collaboration." That way David feels vindicated in that he feels his music has value and Roger feels vindicated in feeling his words have a place. No? Ok fine, then let's say they'll play "Us and Them."

Re: Song Set

I heard they're gonna close the show and my guess is they're gonna play the songs where they're all involved --- comfortably numb, hey you, us and them, time.

Re: Song Set

The 4 songs will have to have shared vocals, writing credits, etc...

I think:

SOYCD
Time
Brain Damage / Eclipse
CN

Yes , "us and them" sounds like a good choice.

When you say , ' that way David feels vindicated .....Roger feels vindicated' , you see what we're doing , don't you ? We're already creating a dispute that we imagine will happen just on choice of songs . For all we know , Bob Geldof has probably chosen the songs for them and thats it...puts to rest all imaginary tussles over choice of songs.

Anyway , hope the set is STRONG and there are no on stage daggers.

I suppose we ( without tickets ) will have to wait for the DVD to come out to watch this "Pigs fly" concert !

Re: Song Set

I believe this would be the perfect short setlist...in this order:

1.Astronomy Domine (to avoid conflict...open with a Syd tune)

2.Time (a must)

3.Wish you Were Here

4.Comfortably Numb

5.Brain Damage/Eclipse

No brick....no Money.....1 Syd song...2 dark side....1 wywh tune...and one from the wall....perfect! Think about it!
