I'm planning three shows performed by our local musicians (plus a small orchestra, for every song), a tribute to Pink Floyd. The first show will be a performance of "The Wall", the second will be that of "Dark Side of the Moon," and the third will be various PF songs.
I would like your help; I need to know where I can find sheet music of PF's songs, for all instruments. Also, who would I contact to get permission and arrange a way to pay royalties?
Thank you.

Who exactly do you need music for? If these guys have to learn all this stuff man, I hope you are not planning on doing this anytime soon. Some of thoes solo's are killers. Anyway, just check any good music store. If there is a 'Guitar Center' around there, that is an excellent place to go. I'm not sure whats in Texas though. Believe it or not i'm actually working on a cd right now of Floyd covers. The bitch is that i'm playing all of the instruments and doing the singing. That's actually a side project with another cd i've been working on. Can't help you with the royalty stuff though.

Well of course we need guitar and bass tabs, keyboard notes, drum notes, and music for:
clarinet
trombone
French horn
flute
violin
trumpet
alto saxophone
A rough guess of the show's date would be some time next year (late). We also might even build the wall.

Roger won't give you permission to build a wall. He said that he only gives permission to schools and stuff. Maybe if you are doing it for charity.... As far as guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums. Like I said a good music store should have them, as far as the other instruments I have no idea.

Unless we're doing it for charity? That works out great! We're giving the admission charges and such to a charity to help supply food, medical stuff, shelters, for the Afghan refugees (not Bin-Laden's boys, the good people). And the only available place to hold our planned tribute is at the auditorium in the Junior High. Wonder if that counts.

Last summer a tribute band from Sweden called P Floyd performed "The Wall" and it was absolutely amazing. Their show containd actors on the stage and a wall. You can check out their website at www.wood5.se, there are some great pictures.

I'm sure that if you contact them they can help you out with the royalty stuff, and possibly the music.

I can see it now. The kids, faculty and staff all joining together in a chorus for Another Brick in The Wall (part 2) while the chairs and desks are thrown to the bonfire. Seriously though, it sounds like an excellent idea. Unfortunately it would be impossible to pull off in this neck of the woods.

I got another question you may be able to help me with. I think that for the third show, instead of various Pink Floyd songs, we'll put on a performance of the entire "The Man and The Journey" suite. I know it comprised mostly of reworked material.
But does anybody know what songs were played and the order they were in? I know versions of "Green is the Color," "Careful With That Axe, Eugene," and "Cymbaline" were used, but other than that, I'm stumped.
CAN YA HELP ME?!

Who are these local musicians?

Not to burst your bubble...but...I've been looking for sheet music of Money, Us and Them, Shine On You Crazy Diamond for alto saxophone for a good year. It's not going to happen. Your fellow musicians are going to have to sit down with DSotM, WYWH, or even the Final Cut, (also AMLoR, TDB, etc.) and listen to try and seek out some of the notes. Yes, I am lazy!
