Thumbs up Floyd's Future

Thought I would open a thread to discuss Pink Floyd's Future.
Now that LIVE 8 is a go what else do you think could happen?

I hope they were inspired by seeing cream perform at the royal albert hall & will now put aside their differences & do what they do best

If "hell can freeze over" then I'm sure "pigs can fly"

Any way, frankly I think there's too much water under the bridge between the four of them and they will not be able to create the same material as their previous albums.

Also they are too busy with their individual lives to ever be able to generate the chemistry needed for band members to really gel as a unit.

But then "hope" is a four letter word ..........

I pray they'll do a huge world arena tour, but i doubt it'll happen. Regardless, this happening at all is amazing.

Re: Floyd's Future

I really don't see anything new coming from this. To do so would require a lot of time and work with each other, and I doubt either wants to get that chummy.

Besides, being 60 puts a damper on your enthusiasm for working that hard.

Re: Floyd's Future

I'm about as pessimistic as they come and I know it's a longshot but it could happen. This whole event wasn't supposed to happen but it did...the reunion wasn't supposed to happen but it did. So who knows? 10-15 years ago, who would have thought we'd have the ability to exchange messages like this. I know this sounds like crap but anything is possible.

Re: Floyd's Future

It is a lot more probable now than it was before the Live 8 news. Who knows? I certainly hope we get the whole thing, album, tour, etc.

Though, none of that is likely. Roger also has a ton of projects going on, his opera, the Wall on broadway, etc.

I guess time will tell.

Time is one thing that's against them, they're all heading towards OAP status as Stratty points out.

Re: Floyd's Future

Perhaps they could get 'guests' to stand in for them like they do on American soaps such as Dallas, Dynasty and Days of our Lives? No one would notice the difference. You could stick in folk like Jamie Theakston, Matt le Blanc, Nelly, Katie Holmes, Joshua jackson shove a backing tape on and hey presto

Re: Floyd's Future

Hmmm, you sure do know a lot about American soaps.

Well, I am in no way a medium, but Floyd told me yesterday that he has a dentist appointment on Thursday, so I figure spitting is probably in his future.

Re: Floyd's Future

I don't know. Nobody expected this to actually happen, so anything is possible now that pigs are indeed flying. Obviously they're 60 now but hey, the Stones are still there after all. I would be the happiest person on Earth if the three of them would produce a new album as a band, and if Roger would join it would be beyond amazing. It depends on what kind of feelings the actual reunion will sparkle between them, the actual playing I mean, the actual being on stage together. If the feeling is good enough something other will happen, recording or touring or both I don't know but something will happen. If not, it could also be a nice final chapter, but not so good actually because Live 8 is not for Floyd fans: the vast majority of us will be left watching the show on TV, which is a bit of a shame. But I do keep hoping high hopes.

Yes but the Stones are not exactly playing anything that difficult and can't really do a lot else

Re: Floyd's Future

I cannot see anything that "difficult" in Floyd music either. More complex and structured, indeed, but not particularly demanding, frankly.

Re: Floyd's Future

The stones do not use as much and as varied equipment, and even the setup of a pf show is demanding as they would have the light shows and films. Not just the band on stage with guitars drum kit and microphones.
