Re: What else besides Pink Floyd

Lately I have found myself enjoying "lounge" singers such as Elton John, Billy Joel, Neil Diamond, etc.

And of course this guy:

Richard Cheese used to have up a very respectable clip of his rendition of 'Baby Got Back,' but it seems the website has changed.

Jazz players I enjoy include Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola and Darryl Sturmer (when he was with Jean Luc Ponty particularly).

Blues wise.. well hell, everybody. All the Kings, BB, Albert, Freddie.... Hubert Summlin, Hound Dog Taylor, Lightning Hopkins.. Even some of the "New Kids" like Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, J.J. Cale, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Chris Duarte..... The list goes on forever...

Sounds like you'll fit in here just fine with that selection of music behind you..

yes , I play guitar too which is why I love the guys I mentioned . Al de Meola's Tiramisu is awesome especially the synch playing with Kai Akegi, the pianist on the album. I prefer jazz that is rocky and choppy and blues that is grinding and hard .

I also play drums ( or used too in the old days ) and freak out on Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Omar Hakim and Steve Gadd .

Check out Dave on Chick Coreas Elektric band DVD in the song "Rumble" .

How about Iron Maiden , anyone ?

I agree, Skyline is better, in fact there are times when I would call it my favorite by him...but if push came to shove I would probably say others were higher on my list from his catalog.

As far as music I love outside of Floyd...

Something Old: David Bowie...he could do no wrong in my book from 69 through 80.

Something New: Super Furry Animals...they somehow manage to outdo themselves on each new release, one of my favorite bands of the last ten years.
