Though I think he should. Celebrity or not, others do not have the right to make an ass out of anyone for reasons of public entertainment.

By the way, that movie was horrible (except for some excellent footage of planes flying). The directing was shit, the acting was shit, the writing was shit. I have a firm belief that the celluliod used to film it was actual excrement as well.

Re: Tom Cruise. A bit of a drip?

I finally looked at the poll... Only one in five people think that there's something questionable about having hoses turned on somebody.

I ask myself... Should I grab my supersoaker, head out the door, and indiscriminately blast people? Would the empirical evidence bear out our poll prediction?

Stay tuned for further developments.

Re: Tom Cruise. A bit of a drip?

Actually the poll is questionable because it only gives us a choice between two things that have very little connection.

Why not give us options like "all people deserve respect," "it was a wrong thing to do to anybody," or "everyone deserves to be soaked."

It is not as simple as the poll seems. I haven't voted because I don't feel that Tom Cruise deserves my respect because he is a celbrity nor do I feel that he should be drowned.

Re: Tom Cruise. A bit of a drip?

Not having any particular insight into Eddy's possibly demented thought processes, I chose to view the bipolarity of choice to hinge mainly on the water aspect, and ignored the respect and celebrity parts. I'm often wrong.

The only celebrity in town at the moment that I'm aware of is Arnold Schwarzenegger, and I lack the courage to go after him with a supersoaker. You know, Hinckly and all that.

Re: Tom Cruise. A bit of a drip?

I understand that. But what I am saying is that it isn't an extreme choice. Why did I have to choose between option A and option E when options B,C,and D exist.

This is even a fallacy in misrepresenting the choices. "If not A then it must be E", but I say it is somewhere between.

He deserves the respect, but not because he's a celebrity.

Re: Tom Cruise. A bit of a drip?

Demented thought processes..hmmmm..yeah that's about right. The question and the poll was merely a bit of fun....just babbling and all that...and yes you could have had a dozen other options in there including 'do you think Tom Cruise is a twat' ( I would have voted 'yes' to that one!) I wasn't really taking it that seriously. I don't know whether he deserves our respect, as darksideofoz says? I like to think respect is earned by ones actions. Was it wrong to soak Tom...probably yes...was he right to throw a tantrum....down to the indvidual...he could have laffed it off and taken it as a joke.....but he didn't...again it's his choice. I suppose its the errant schoolboy in me, which makes me laughs out loud when celebrities, and people in lofty positions have things like this happen to them. I have a picture on my office wall of a young lad of about 8, sticking his tongue out at Tony Blair, who was doung a photo shoot at his school. The photoshoot was all stage managed..and the young lad blew it all apart . Priceless! I believe that they same crew gave a soaking to Ozzy..his response was to get an ice bucket full of water and soak the buggers back. Was he right...in my opinion..yes.....good fun all round.

I did say 'possibly', you know... And Ozzy is not an egotistical actor, he's a guy who spent almost his entire life tongue planted firmly in cheek - yeah, he'd think it was hilarious.

Cruise, on the other hand, seems very two-dimensional to me. He's got this trademark "3/4 profile with boyish grin" thing going, and I really don't blame people for wanting to douse it with a hose. Then again, I don't blame Cruise for being angry about it.

I have doused several people with my supersoaker, and surprisingly enough, not one has yet hit me. The poll may be correct. Of course, I only soak people smaller than me.

I'm so inclined myself. Like when Fabio got nailed square in the nose by a Canadian honker while promo-ing a roller coaster.

I liked the Ann Cuolter pie-fling-near-miss episode. Not to mention the Bill Gates one
