Complete "Shine On..." track (all 9 parts)

Just wondering if a track of all nine parts of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is out there. I tried making a CD putting them back to back, but the segue into "Machine" and out of "WYWH" are different (humming and wind blowing, respectively).

I thought maybe this was released on a compilation album somewhere, maybe it's on a site somewhere, or maybe someone could accomplish this by synching the Echoes version and the second part on the WYWH album and mixing them to form one continuous track with all 9 parts.

any help would be appreciated

thanks,
Dan

Ive wondered if this exists as well. PF wrote it as a whole song originaly, maybe there is a recording somwhere of the piece in its entirety, although it must have been different because the sax at the end of part1 and the synth at the begining of part2 wouldnt work well

There are live versions from 1974 that have the whole thing in one piece. But no, there isn't an officially released studio version. I could do a pretty convincing job by crossfading the "Echoes" version with the original album ending, but I'm waiting for it to be remastered again this year.

" dance songs " version is an edit w/ all the lyric/vocal sections featured;

- I like water's complete version from ITF, it's probably the best sound quality wise

I`ve always been wondering, why that Shine On You Crazy Diamond version that I hear on the radio has pieces from both SOYCD parts, maybe it is the one from Collection Of Great Dance Songs?

If it has the sax solo, then it's from Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd. If it skips over the sax and lap steel solos, and goes straight into the second part, it's from A Collection of Great Dance Songs. If it skips those and the synth solo at the beginning, it's from the promo disc released in 1975.

Wow, Botley, now I`m really confused...
I`ll listen to it again and then maybe I will recognise the version.

It might also be the live version from Roger's In the Flesh album, with the lap steel but no sax solo. Or PULSE, which has all that unnecessary windchimes percussion and only one guitar part.

The early versions before they split it up don't compare to the latter versions. They are much less developed. I think there's a studio version of the whole thing together on the Tree Full Of Secrets set, somewhere on those 12342321 discs.

Listen to some of the RoIO's from the 77 ITF tour.

One of my favorite 'Shine On' moments is from the infamous Montreal gig when Dave and Snowy do an extended guitar duet crunchfest during part 8. In spite of the hollering idiots in Le Stade Olympique, it's breathtaking. At least to me.

These would be from the 1974 tour, when they'd just written it.

It also, quite incomprehensibly, has thunder noises dubbed all over it.
