War on Grass

Seventeen year old American girl.
Whole life ahead of you, throwing it all away.
The evil has you in it's grip.
There is no turning, it is here to stay.

Seventeen year old American girl.
Tears rolling on your pretty face.
Your brain is rotting, full of holes.
People who love you going through hell.

Seventeen year old American girl.
How could this evil have found you?
Expecting death, there is only Meth, no hope at all.
You keep on inhaling, you're not doing quite well.

Seventeen year old American girl.
Awake, awake for thirteen days.
Distanced people convinced in your recovery.
While you know the craving, it will always stay.

Re: War on Grass

Are you implying I am ripping of something? Do a Google search. :Z It was inspired by a TV show. It's just a pretentionless little something I wrote in 5 minutes because I had a sudden inspirational moment.

I like it. It's got a good, real life feel to it. Like it could actually be about someone you know.

Re: War on Grass

No I am glad to say it's not about someone I know. It's about someone I saw at a tv show and the tragic story moved me so much it inspired me to write this. I have seen a lot of drug use around me over the years but nothing of it came close to this. It's about a 17 year old girl heavily addicted to an extremely destructive drug called ''Crystal Meth''. I also found it hard to connect the way she looked to it all. She was the typical blonde prom queen kind of girl with loving parents and probably a great childhood. What I wonder the most is how such a girl could even get in contact with such an evil drug.

Re: War on Grass

It appears that we are losing the War on Grass. Every week millions of Americans march behind our motorized, twirling blades, trying to cut down the enemy. Thousands of gallons of chemical agents are used, at times even fires are used. We've tried basically plowing and paving over the enemy encampments.

But still grass grows. Damn lawns.

After watching the cartoon show 'King of the Hill', I wondered whether it was true that Texans take an obsessive pride in their lawns? And what about the rest of the States?
Over here it's more of a bloody chore...damn lawns!

No, I wasn't implying that. I said it reminded me (as in the overall feel of the poem), not that you stole the lyrics. In fact the lyrics are nothing like the poem. You just interpreted what I said in the wrong way.

I can't say about Texas, but I have noticed that my neighbors are in three categories (with one subcategory) when it comes to lawns. The first would be the Hank Hill types who mow their lawns to a certain length, get a special grass, and use fertilizers (or pay someone to do the above). There is a subcategory to the Hank Hill types which I will term as the old lady Hank Hill. The lawn has been overrridden with tacky displays of plastic.

Then there are those that find it a chore, but still manage to mow it once a week.

Then there is me, who has decided to let a jungle grow in my backyard.

Re: War on Grass

Screw that. My wife mows the lawn, and that's how it should be.
