| Jumping from Syd to Dark Side of the Moon In every documentary or biography of the Pink Floyd, they seem to skip the most important transitional period of the group, i.e. the Barbet Schroeder movie soundtracks. You can hear on the first track of Obscured by clouds the first makings of the synthesized sounds they would use on Dark Side. I know that from David Gilmours interviews they did not like the projects and would come to the studio drunk most of the time. But to me, it is an important part of their development. Anyone feel like me? |

| Re: Jumping from Syd to Dark Side of the Moon Yes, actually. There are a number of threads about "More", plus the beauty of "Obscured By Clouds" is routinely praised to the heavens around here. Amazing, really, considering both soundtracks were written and recorded in less than two weeks each. But you're right, most biographies tend to gloss over the soundtrack projects a bit or confuse them with one another. What I find even more suspect is that the wealth of outtakes and alternate versions from the "Zabriskie Point" soundtrack are hardly ever mentioned, not even by the Floyd themselves (except for "The Violent Sequence" of course, which evolved into "Us and Them"). There's about a whole album's worth of stuff there.

| Re: Jumping from Syd to Dark Side of the Moon More is filled with shite more that it actually has any good songs(still decent album though). OBC is an all round great album.
