| PJ does good covers, if ya ask me :D Pearl Jam covered Insterstellar Overdrive, and ABITWpt2 was one of the many Daughter tags. I can't think of any more that you guys didn't mention already, though my stepdad sings a lot of Floyd, nothing recorded though. On a lighter note, first post ^_^

| Re: Covers By Other Bands Welcome! ![]() Good 'ol BoaB is correct in what he says. I went searching for a Floyd forum a while ago... and found this one... and knew that my search was complete! Getting back on topic... I vaguely (and by putting it in italics means I have an inkling of a memory) remember seeing that Bruce Springsteen cover on Napster once. I am curious as to what it sounds like. Last edited by Shane G. : 05-20-2002 at 05:26 PM. |

| Re: Covers By Other Bands The Live version I downloaded has all the hallmark Springsteen elements: megaSax, thundering concert-grade rythms but also - and if I'm wrong, I am not a true Pink Floyd fan - the very distinctive voice of one Roger Waters... hang on, let me listen to it again ...definitely Roger singing the lead vocals, I'm sure of it, but that sax puts me in mind of Springsteen's corps. Verdict?

| Re: Covers By Other Bands That's good to know... I do wonder how Roger met Bruce. BTW, does Roger do justice to the original Gilmour vocal, in your opinion? |

| Re: Covers By Other Bands I agree with Thorin... the Pearl Jam version was short (at least the Tampa version was). |

| Silly me :D I've never heard the cover of IO, just ABITW2. I thought it was only on the Nevada bootleg as well, had no idea it was on the Tampa one. :\ Maybe I should download it, and give it a listen.

Given that it IS Roger singing, it isn't as good as David singing it, but it's a fair enough attempt, and at least it's a Floyd doing the singing rather than someone else. So I'd give Roger 7 out of 10 for his efforts, in my opinion. ![]()

| Re: Covers By Other Bands Yeah... from what I remember, the Tampa version was a whole bunch of noises, then the main riff from Interstellar Overdrive played maybe 4 times.... then it ended. I grovelled... I thought they were going to cover the whole thing. It was a waste of time. |

| Covers By Other Bands Luther Wright And The Wrongs have recorded a whole cd devoted to "The Wall", titled "Rebuild The Wall". Basically is "The Wall" re-done in a bluegrass format. Is bizarre...but tastefully done, I believe--not like your regular run or the mill 'tribute' album, that turns out to be novelty [aka "Hayseed Dixie"]. Translating the Queen's English into a hillbilly vernacular gives the project a touch of humor, and the bluegrass style seems to put more emphasis on the quality of the lyrics. The instrumentation is interesting, using mainly traditional bluegrass instruments, and the vocals are quality as well. The sound effects are, well, 'backwoodsy', for lack of a better term. Definitely worth checking out!

| Covers By Other Bands Something else I just remembered: Saw the "Austin Lounge Lizards" do a smokin' bluegrass cover of "Brain Damage" a few years back--think they recorded it for their cd "Lizard Vision".
