In your opinion, what Pink Floyd tunes are better when they are performed live, as opposed to their studio versions?
My choices would be: "A Saucerful of Secrets" (most definitely), "High Hopes," "Outside the Wall," "In the Flesh (Parts 1 & 2)," "Careful With That Axe, Eugene," "Set the Controls For the Sun," "Interstellar Overdrive," and "Astronomy Domine" (especially the 'Ummagumma' version).

I don't have any Floyd bootlegs, so the most I can say is that Dave does a nice version of Brain Damage/Eclipse.

Typhoon, I don't think you have to own bootlegs to know what Floyd sounds like live. I don't even like bootlegs, they just confuse things.

Yeah, the jam thing too......but.....I was talking about how the just play the riff, wait a few seconds, play riff, wait few seconds, etc...............and then they start the song.

I absolutely love the transfer between Empty Spaces and Young Lust. But I understand that they wanted to include What Shall We Do Now. Shouldn't complain, just feel unjustly done.

yeah i see what you mean about young lust. i think ITAOT is superior because there are great keyboard parts that make it so much better than the studio album. ATH, how do bootlegs confuse things for you? just curiosity.

Early live versions (10 mins+) of Any Colour You Like absolutely rock.

Cheers,

Thorin13, in reply to your question, here's how they confuse things for me; when I'm researching something or looking something up, or comprising a songlist, I often discover songs that are just bootlegs, mostly live recordings with different titles, or "alternate" "early" versions. So, I add that song to the list. But when I discover it's just a bootleg of a live song or two songs merged together, I have to go back and delete that song from my list.

But I've completed my list, so it's not much of a problemo anymore. I'll put it on my site if...oh wait.
