Re: A saucerful of Ummagumma

I just traded off some cookies and still packaged "Echoes, the best of..." to a buddy of mine for Ummagumma on vinyl, and I fuggin' love my life. This album might/might-not be what everyone expected it to be, but it still serves its purpose and has centimental value. Im happy with my new trade. I enjoyed Echoes but I bought it and then recieved another copy for Xmas this year so it didnt really bother me to trade. Just my opinion, I like it. Later.

Re: A saucerful of Ummagumma

I often wonder, since PF dropped UG (temporarily) to record the soundtrack for MORE, whether UG would be anywhere near the same as it turned out to be had they not done the soundtrack and carried on with UG before Barbet Schroder approached them..

Moreover I'm bloody glad they did the s/track since I'm not too keen on UG apart from a few tracks...(esp. The Narrow Way pt.3)I am listening to MORE now (as in on minidisc as i write this) after years of umming and arrring over adding it to my collection of great floyd songs... it's a mushy album in parts...but i love that...I seem to be going through a late 60's early 70's and summer of love phase just now...I watched a film called "charly" the other day....the soundtrack was by Ravi Shankar..I managed to get into it and it really fitted the film....

Re: A saucerful of Ummagumma

well there is a certain track on Ummagumma, i think its track 2 or 3, the opening keys of the piano sound EXACTLY like 'Us and Them'. check that out.

Re: A saucerful of Ummagumma

I've always noticed that the organ solo at the end of cirrus minor sounds extremely similar to the organ solo at the end of saucerfull of sectrets (the album version). Has anyone else noticed that?
