Is there anyway to skip ahead on the replays on AOL?

...I don't know if the heartbeats came over MTV as I was watching the AOL feed at the time... but if I can count correctly, that makes it SIX songs!!!

Re: Well, what did we think about PF on Live8?

To the poster of the AOL feed... THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I had to work today but got my family to tape it. I'm in Canada and we only got the first two songs from the set .

Someone mentioned it was only the four of them, but of course, there was Tim Renwick on guitar (good old Tim!) and Dave Perry on that fabulous sax. We didn't see enough of Rick (who looks the best of the lot of them!) but the best part of the evening was seeing Roger call Dave over for the group shot at the end. Roger said at the beginning of WYWH that it was an emotional night and I think you can see on their faces, this reunion was long overdue and they were not just "tolerating each other". I think there is a deep respect of each other that shows as the good memories linger and the bad ones fade for them over the years. Live8 was a good catalyst for bringing the boys back together again. They should probably leave it at that... a happy memory of PF!

Re: Well, what did we think about PF on Live8?

I thought Rick was played very well tonight, there were some empty spots on Breathe but for the most part they were all in time. Notice how Rick and Roger's movement seems to sync up on the reprise.

Yeah, and they didn't show much of Rick. They didn't play Us and Them either, which dissapointed me. Rick always does a great job on the piano when they play it live.

Re: Well, what did we think about PF on Live8?

What wonderful moments happened today!!!! Still savoring it all.... Echoing all sentiments about MTV sucking the donkey but I was afraid they would have botched it even worse than they did. They were cutting away from every other band with equal ignorance. You figure if the idiots allowed the first three songs to play uninterupted that they might as well let CN finish ya think?? ....But at the end of the day I am for enjoying it for what it was. A very inspired one-off performance. Naturally, I can't help hoping the bands experience of playing with one another after all this time might somehow organically grow into something new. But everything I have read about Dave and Rogers antipathy toward one another just makes it unlikely for a repeat anytime soon. Yet it feels good that they rightly put aside their differences for 20 minutes of musical magic for a good and just cause. I for one will definitely be paying attention to what effect this event will have on the G8 conference next week. I daresay the more positive the outcome, the more likely the Pig will fly once again with all four co-pilots aboard...

Re: Well, what did we think about PF on Live8?

nicely said Loftyswine the most I would love to see out of this is a one off show, longer for maybe another good cause. Anything more might be scary as I would want it to end on a good note. If this was all that came then it is a good note. If a one off show for good cause comes out of it and ends on a good note too even better. New CD, long tours I can't see it and I see it ending bad

Will watch that stream over and over again for sure

Breathe had me slightly worried - they were okay but not great, and Gilmour's voice was really showing it's age. Money was probably the best performance-wise, as I think it may have been superior to the studio version; Gimlour's (superior to studio) solo is most likely the reason. The dedication of WYWH was nice, and Gilmour seemed to sound more like his old self again(same goes for Comfortably Numb), though Waters sounded very ****ing old. Still, their performance of it was overall great. Comfortably Numb was excellent, and my only complaint was that the back-up singers got kind of annoying during the chorus. I don't think Gilmour's solo was better than the studio version, unlike Money, but it was still (obviously) awesome. Instrumentally the band sounded top-notch. I should also mention that I didn't catch it on MTV; one of my local rock stations played the set a few hours after they performed it, so I can't comment on the interuptions
one thing i would like to point out yes gilmour does sound old but he sounded that way on pulse too i think they didnt sound bad at all they did great music and vocal wise

Re: Well, what did we think about PF on Live8?

Unfortunately I don't have PayTV at home and couldn't justify (nor afford) a 12 month contract to have it setup in order to get it purely for 4 songs (or is that 6? hehe), but perhaps I should've.... One of the local free-to-air services in Australia is broadcasting a "highlights" package tonight, but I'd be surprised if more than one tune gets shown.

I begged a kind friend with Foxtel to tape it for me. We gambled on a 4am (Melbourne time) start for the 4hr tape to capture Floyd before the scheduled 7:30am finish, allowing for 30 mins overrun... hadn't counted on 2 HOURS EXTRA so the tape stopped at 8am, with Floyd coming on around 8:40am or so. Gotta hate that huh?

I did catch it "live" on the radio though, but on the crappy portable unit I couldn't make out the dedication clearly, but thought I heard Rog mention "Syd". Thought Syd preferred to be called "Roger" these days - though that would have confused the crowd even further!!!

I can't believe how I sobbed with tears of joy into my pillow upon hearing those tunes on the crappy radio. I got teary during Money, but I wept uncontrollably through Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb. These 4 guys were such a strong influence on my growing up and to hear them together after 24 years apart was just too much.

Tears burn my eyes.

Cheers, Dish.
