Money.

"The galaxy of rock stars who took part in Live 8 concerts on Saturday to help beat the curse of poverty have seen their records fly off the shelves in British music stores, proving that cash balances as well as consciences were the winner.According to HMV, one of the country's main record retailers with 200 stores nationwide, Pink Floyd's "Echoes" album posted a staggering 1,343 percent increase in sales on Sunday compared with the same day a week ago."

NICK MASON revealed how the band 'eyeballed each other' as they prepared for their first gig in 24 years 'in a slightly alarming way' but compared the reunion to 'riding a bike'. DAVE GILMOUR, meanwhile, said it was 'a bit like sleeping with your ex-wife'. Both ruled out any further reunions.

Come on. Did you both listen or sing? Make up your mind.

That said, i wouldn't mind a tour or something where they play their old stuff for us younguns who weren't around back in their prime.
And you can make up your bloody mind too, misery-guts.

I still think it's amusing that Geldof did this. He hates Floyd music.

WHAT? Sleeping with your ex-wife can't be all that bad, surely?

Re: Pink Floyd Performance at Live 8

wow. When MTV cut to the vj's I ran upstairs where I had the AOL feed running, and since it was on delay I didn't miss anything. Great performance, great to see the band back together even if for the last time.

I noticed it has been exactly one year since I've been on this forum.

Re: Pink Floyd Performance at Live 8

David did so smile at Roger at one point. When Roger began to sing, and i can't remember which song it was now, but David looked over at him and smiled.

If you got it recorded go have a look. I definitely did not detect David being tense or anything. He did look like he was concentrating pretty hard, as if he was trying to make sure that he could still play the notes after all these years.

As far as them ruling out further reunions, that is depressing. They seemed to get along so well on that stage. I really hope it doesn't end here. It's a good note to end on, but this was my first taste of Floyd live....and I perhaps selfishly thirst for more.

Re: Pink Floyd Performance at Live 8

Everwhere I go and mention the live8-concert, everybody (I like anyway) is talking about the Floyd reunion. I totally disagree with people who think this is a good way to end it all. That it will end one day? Sure, I kow mathematics as well.

This should be the beginning of something like a worldwide farewell-tour. So everybody got a chance to do tribute to the greatest musicians and performers ever.

Yeah right, I'm sentimental. That's probably because I watched the AOL-feed for the 10th time I guess. Can't get enough of it. Especially the moment when Nick is throwing of his headphone, just before David start his solo on CN. A couple of moments later, you can see him in almost pure pleasure listening to his own selfperformed music with his eyes closed. What more do we want to see.......

Fill in the blanks, boys and girls......

Re: Pink Floyd Performance at Live 8

A farewell tour with Roger does indeed seem more than reasonable for a band like Floyd, instead of a set of 4 songs. But ah well at least we got SOMETHING.

Like a true drummer.... loses the headphones!!! (TheUnabeefer <-- drummer) Honestly, they just get in the way.

Anyways, I would love even jsut a small, laid back, scaled down, simple tour.... of maybe a few major cities.... or they can just play in every bar they can find. I am sure no one would have anything against an impromtu show at some random bar!!!

One of the biggest newspapers in Norway reported today that Pink Floyd is donating all the extra money they earned on the show. CD sale etc.
