His singing on One of these days is great.

He's a good drummer, but what is there to think about? He doesn't write songs or sing. He sits there, plays the drums and collects cars.

People never appreciate the drummer enough. They r always the ppl who "just sit there and play the drums". I myself play the drums and have lately been learing some Nick Mason drumming and let me tel u that it is extremely hard. Even his normal rock beat has a different feel and groove than a normal rock beat, I don't think ppl realise that. And I can only wonder how many bass skins he has smashed cos that bass is constantly going. So personaly I love him, his drumming was very unique

I play the guitar and let me tell you, it's more work. I've got to play, sing, and run or walk around the stage like a moron because i'm too friggin' hyper and I can't sit still. Plus I can't stand a guitar player with no stage presence. I also used to play the drums, it's not easy, but it's easier than what I do.

unless he is some awesome drummer or has a lot of input into the writing of songs then he is just another person who backs up the main person or people.

Truth be told, I think that his drumming peaked around about '73. He just seems to be content with the standard 4/4 now.

Don't really know so much about guitar playing, I'm sure it's not easy. No instrument is. But like Isaid he's drumming has a slightly different groove, don't know how to xplain it,it feels different when u r playing it.

Oh well no use arguing, there's always been a difference of opinion between guitarists and drummers.

Your right. It's easy to tell if a drummer's any good. Just listen.

Hallo Leute, i know anybody thinks that Mason is less important than the other pf-members. For the sound(and only for the sound!) of PF he is (i think!) even more important than Roger Waters (with his shitty bass-playing). He has a very unique style of drumming, too: Just listen to older songs like "echoes" or "Careful with that axe". It's magic. I know this because i'm a drummer, too. Also, Mason was the member who did a large amount of sound effects on their 70s LPs. To eugenesaxe: i know persons like you. Many people think that drumming consists of hitting some toms, the bass-drum, the snare and the hihat in the right order. But it's far more to it than this. It is very difficult to get a beat grooving. der Sülli. ---------------------------------- "it's like saying give a man a les paul guitar and he becomes eric clapton" - RW

Right, so by what I said it must mean that I think Lars Ulrich is the greatest drummer ever. His crap is standard, Mason is good.
