I need help!

Ok so I'm new around here and i would love to start a new topic but I am a bit too busy to do that. What I need is any information on Syd Barrett that anyone might have. I am in the process of researching his life in order to write a play, however I fear this research might take a couple of years or even longer so any information is welcome. thanks

hmmmmm. Well seeing as I've only just really properly started I don't really know that much, u know, the basics. Where he was born, where he went to school,a little bit of info about his history with the Floyd, some info about the UFO and things of such but no real substantial information. Like I sai anything would help really

you must really like him if you don't know too much but want to write a play about him. best bet is to pick up a biography on him. best place to find info.

yeah the biographies are kind of hard to find around here, Adelaide, Australia. But let me tell u I'm trying hard to find things, strangely enough ppl don't want to talk about him. But yeah any specific websites or things of such u know would b really good

Go to the Barnes and Noble site and order "Crazy Diamond", the biography of Syd and his excesses. They'll deliver worldwide and fairly promptly also. There are plenty of Syd sites all over the net, so I reckon that if you use a decent search engine, that'll keep you going in Brylcreem and mandrax stories to dramatise. Sounds like a pretty good idea for a play, truth be told. I tell you what's good though; 'Hedwig and The Angry Inch', an off broadway number that was made into a film last year. The play is just phenomenal and I highly recommend it, should you be feeling 'cultural'.

Personally, I love Syd. Got most of his stuff with Floyd and Solo. Unreleased stuff I mean.

Oh I love Syd too! I mean I wouldn't be trying to write a play based on his life if I didn't but I do understand why people wouldn't like him. Many see him as a drug induced art schools student who desrved everything he got and nearly brought pink Floyd down with him. I however believe he was an amazing musician. We lost many musicians in the seventies to drugs and Alcohol and although Syd isn't dead we've lost him too. I love his music and I firmly believe that ihs life needs to be put either onstage or film.

AAAH, good to know. By the way thanks to Fixxlevy for thr Barnes and Noble thing but I managed to find a bookshop which didn't have it but could order it for me and it turned out a hell of a lot cheaper than Barnes and Noble, thanx anyway.
