Those fans are the people that made him rich. Everything he has was made possible by them. So it would be more than reasonable to at least do a farewell tour out of decency.

Re: Hoping for a PF reunion tour?

They obviously did their farewell tour ten years ago.

They could have at least said it at the time then.

They are by no means obligated, where is a contract or law saying that, even morally for that matter.
From a fans perspective we feel we are owed some closure admittedly but that is not PFs problem it is ours. Besides half the floyd threads on this forum mention in some way or other the possibilities of any new tours or materials. If a line was drawn under the bands career then all that would go. Great I hear Cheese say but it would destroy the hope of the younger PF fans.
I say be thankful for what they have done, which lets face it is quite a lot, and hope that one day they might just do something more. As I said previously in jest we don't have the divine right to demand more from these guys who have done so much over the last 40 years.

Re: Hoping for a PF reunion tour?

Seems to me the thing least likely to work in convincing Pink Floyd to tour again is to offer them $150 million. They just aren't the sort that would jump at the size of the pot. You'd probably stand a much better chance if you left money out of the equation and appealed only to sentiment (thus not making them feel like they were being bought).
And although we will all be dreaming of a tour until WE are 60, I would reluctantly settle for just one night, one final Pink Floyd farewell concert with all four of them. A giant, 6 hour long internationally broadcast outdoor concert with stuff from all the heyday albums plus echoes etc etc; just the four of them and Tim Renwick and Dick Parry and a few others (no special guests). DVD follows.
Wasn't there some talk about them always wanting a show at the Pyramids? Now THAT would be a sendoff.

Look, honestly? I would settle for just a new studio album from the four of them. No need to subject them to a tour...unless they wanted to take it very slowly around the globe culminating in their final show...EVER!.. at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics 2012.

Re: Hoping for a PF reunion tour?

Closing ceremony would be more symbolic but 7 years down the road? Not likely me thinks.

You said almost the same thing in '81, and look what we got. I'll remind you, as time may have blurred your faculties, but you were not impressed with the offerings.

I'll settle for what I've got, I think.

And who would have been surprised? I mean, "A Collection of Great Dance Songs"?

Re: Hoping for a PF reunion tour?

Here's a quote from Dave to disappoint everyone again! (cackles wildly)

"Which brings us to the diminishing prospects of seeing Pink Floyd in concert again. Gilmour has already stated that he has no desire "to hit the stadiums again", although he hasn't yet closed the stable door."

"Well, I don't like to say that I'll never do something again, but I suspect that I've done that. One never knows if one's tired old ego might creep up on you and persuade you to give it a go. I mean, I'm at liberty to play with Rick and Nick any time. But the weight of the whole Floyd thing is something I don't feel like lifting these days."

"And I wouldn't feel happy doing it without a new record. Going out and cashing in, playing all the old songs again, isn't really what I'm into, or have ever been. Touring would have to be on the back of another Pink Floyd record, and I don't feel in the mood to compromise in that way right now. I just think I've grown out of it. Finally."

It can be found at Brain Damage under the Dave Gilmour Interviews section.
