Pink Floyd...!

I need somewhere to express my feelings about Pink Floyd since Live 8. Here seems as good a place as any...

I consider myself to be a music fan, I go to a lot of gigs, festivals and the like, I have seen a lot of top (even legendary) bands.

I knew Pink Floyd, I have a number of their albums and I loved them all...

Saturday however, just blew me away.

Pink Floyd. Jesus, what can I say? Wish your Were Here - dedicated to Syd Barrett, made me emotional - Comfortably Numb made me cry. Like nothing I have ever witnessed. I have listened and watched their all to brief set over and over again. The passion, the emotion, the feeling, the truth in their lyrics. How much of a cliche? - But nowadays you really don't get music - Rock'n'Roll - the way that Pink Floyd made it ...

I went to see my folks yesterday (the monday after Live 8 ), my old man asked me about the Gig - I said it was awsome, but Pink Floyd, were just amazing - he just looked at me and gave a knowing nod and a smile. He went upstairs and came dowm with a VHS - he'd recorded the Pink Floyd set! He knew... He'd been there; he knew that a new generation were just about to be introduced to the music of Pink Floyd...

My privilege to have been there.
