Johnny Depp's idea for a movie about Syd and PF

Quote:
Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has revealed he wants to make a film about Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett. Depp said, "he dreamed of being a rock and roll guitar player and thought that a movie based on the story of Syd Barrett, original frontman for Pink Floyd, would be a great idea."

Thanks to rogerwatersonline.com for the info. Good idea! Although the movie would obviously be much more spruced up and exciting, i think Johnny Depp could do a good Syd Barrett performance. now the thing is who would play Roger David Nick and Rick?

I reckon Mr Ed would make a good "young" Roger.

Johnny Depp is one amazing actor, I think his portrayal of Syd would be worth seeing.

I have ALWAYS thought (well, since I first saw the actor that is) that Michael Pitt would make a GREAT young David Gilmour.

Even LOOKS like him... just give him long hair.

Damn him, damn him to hell.
This has been my secret pet project for years. I'd even started working on a bit of a script (those of you where were around when I joined might remember). I mean it's cool, but it totally blows at the same time. I'm not a film student just cos I think it's fun you know..

Tim Burton would be the perfect director for a Barrett and Floyd movie.

Re: Johnny Depp's idea for a movie about Syd and PF

Tim Burton and the Deppster are forever working together; joined at the hip? Maybe.

Dyders: nothing is stopping you sending your screenplay to the Deppster directly to fulfill his desire to play Syd. Only in this case he's doing it with your script.

Sorted.

p.s. Who in the hell is Michael Pitt II?

Alan Rickman as Rick, has to be.
I think Jeremy Clarkson as Nick could be interesting as well I don't think he likes edge pieces either.
