Roxy Music

Anyone actually like these guys? It's sort of a recent discovery of mine. I always knew the name but never knew they actually made good music. I'd say it's Art Rock with especially in the later work some pop elements. I don't mind pop music myself as long as it's done well, and that appears to be the case with Roxy Music. My favourite album has to be Stranded, the first one they did without Brian Eno.

Re: Roxy Music

I prefer their first album ( the original line up) 'Roxy Music'.

Re: Roxy Music

Yes, the first two albums with Brian Eno are both excellent.

Re: Roxy Music

I thought Ferry became a bit of a knob, once he went solo.

Re: Roxy Music

Apart from one or two songs I'm not really familiar with his solo stuff. I kinda like Let's Stick Together.

Re: Roxy Music

Avalon was big for them in the 80's.And of course Siren with Love is the drug was a big hit.As for solo I used to have a disc called Taxi which was all coversongs with the help of Robin Trower.I remember enjoying that disc but it escapes me where it ended up because at the moment I can't locate it.It either took a walk or I lent it out and never got it back or before I blame anyone it might just be hiding amongt 600 or so cds that both me and Monkey lover own .

Re: Roxy Music

I also like their 80's stuff like Avalon. But that's probably because I have a secret thing with (some) 80's pop.

Re: Roxy Music

Nah, I was thinking about Simple Minds, 80's Yes, and some 80's Genesis.

How about XTC although they came out in the late 70's I would consider them a very good band in the 80's

Re: Roxy Music

Only heard Senses Working Overtime which I hated, but I keep hearing good things so I might need to check them out some more.
