| new board member from Vermont hello all- I've been reading this board for a while and just joined, and since I've already made a few posts I should at least introduce myself. I've been a Floyd fan since the late 70's- long enough to remember when Animals was the "new" album! I've seen Floyd 9 times in concert and have also seen 2 of Roger's solo tours. From 1980-1995 I was a really big collector of Floyd live recordings, and amassed a big collection- although I'm now pretty happily retired from that and don't even know where half the damned things are, if anyone has any questions about old Floyd live shows I'd be glad to answer them from the best of my experience. At one time I worked really closely with Floyd archivist Jon Rosenberg- some of you might have gotten his privately published book "A Journey with Time and Space with Pink Floyd", to which I was a contributor. I was a grad student in DC and did some Floyd research at the Library of Congress, which at the time (late 1980's) had a pretty interesting collection of European Floyd books for some reason. A couple of other of my Floyd oddities- I write for baseball books and magazines in my spare time- and actually participated in a book signing at Bookends in NJ just one week after Nick Mason did. I am an educator here in Vermont, and once had a secretary who had previously been Alice Gilmour's department secretary when she attended college in Middlebury Vermont (yes, got a couple of stories from these experiences which I'll post sometime or another). really great to be here, thanks! |
