Welcome all you visual artists!

Welcome everyone!

I got to talking to one of our new members, DRAN, and we were discussing visual arts and stuff, and we came to the conclusion that we have the poets' corner, and the jam section where people can share their art with each other, but nothing for those of us who deal with visual art.

So thanks to Paulo, here it is!

Painters, woodcutters, photographers, graphic artists, sculptors etc, you're all welcome!

If you have a large collection, please feel free to post your own thread dedicated to your artwork only. In the mean time, perhaps we could have threads about photography, and different forms of painting and stuff like that.

I certainly know that the creation of this forum has inspired me to pick up my camera again! So I'll be posting my photographs pretty soon hopefully..

I sincerely hope all you lovely visual artists will come out of the woodwork and grace us with your talent, so let the fun begin!

Okay... here's a painting I did last week....

This is a great idea, and clearly there are some very talented people about, but I have some suggestions...

Should we perhaps give everyone their own thread, a la the Poetry forum? That makes it easier to give criticism.

Or perhaps threads can take the form of categories, either by media type or thematic content or whatever.

Images should be linked, not inline (or at least thumbnailed, so the thread border doesn't get all bent).

I've been a keen photographer since the age of 14 - so more than half my life... I'm currently setting myself up once more as a professional photographer after walking away from a growing photographic business 3 years ago to start a retail business with my brother - which nearly killed my creativity and just about sent me round the bend! Thankfully, I'm finally in the process of getting out of retail altogether.

In the past I'd mainly been doing automotive and event photography, and am now doing more weddings and so forth, but I'm also attempting to get back to my artistic roots (I draw and used to paint a little too). Once I've got my act together I'll post a link to a website, but til then here's a selection of thumbnails. Enjoy!
