Re: Auto enthusiasts? Mechanics? HELP!

Also guys,

I'm looking for a car that'll last me about a year or two MAX.

I'm a poor college student - if I could afford any better, I would. But I just need wheels untill I graduate and get a good job.

Then I'm buying myself a bike

That shifting difficulty sounds like worn syncros. Did it grind? Maybe you did miss a gear (second to fourth) if the revs dropped so much.

Now that you've driven it and it works OK, I'm guessing it was something awkward you did with the clutch / shifter before you were used to it.

Good luck.

I think what I was doing was to pop the clutch too fast instead of easing it ... and I must admit that perhaps I was shifting too low/early as well.

When I drove around today - no grinding or any such and the revs didn't drop diddly
