Lightbulb Bob Dylan

Has any other solo artist contributed as much to music as this genius. Has Dylan ever mentioned Floyd? Does the 'New Dylan' tag contribute to careers being ruined. Best/worst Dylan song/album. My faves are Idiot wind/ Blood on the tracks. Does anyone think hes overated?

Re: Bob Dylan

I think Bob once expressed a liking for "The Dogs of War," but then he was saying all sorts of fucked up things in the 1980's. I saw him live last year, it was a beautiful show and I'm very glad I decided to take a chance on him.

Great songwriter,Rock'n'Roll Icon, with that said the last time I seen him live he sucked, and so did the old hippies who were going nuts. Anyway I still think he is great but I wouldn't go see him live again because his voice is beat and so is his electric guitarplayin'.But heh I love this guy.

Re: Bob Dylan

There will never be another Bob Dylan, because there will never be another era like the 60's.

A perfect example of being in the right place at the right time. That is, not taking anything away from Dylan, but his songwriting skills were "optimized" by the times.

That being said, I saw him a month ago with Willie Nelson. He didn't pick up the guitar once! Apparently he only plays the piano now. That was a little sad.

But he can still blow on that harmonica like no other.

Did he look down the back of the couch for his muse? It's the first place I look when I lose anything! The last time I looked, I also found a £1 coin....I was cock a hoop in this turn in my fortunes.

Re: Bob Dylan

I've always been a Dylan fan, but from that genre I like Arlo Guthrie better. I am most likely alone in this, but The Motorcycle Song has always struck a chord in me:

"Oh, I don't want a pickle
just want to ride on my motorsickle...
And I don't want to die,
just wanna ride my mo-torcy-y-y-.... cle."

Blood on the Tracks was (and is) way cool, however.

Eddy, people are going to start applying Scottish stereotypes to you. Last time I lost my muse, I found it in a motel room with another man - I didn't really want it back.
