Re: Radiohead - The new Pink Floyd?

i mean its kind of a jump to say that the end of paranoid android sounds like the end to a saucerful of secrets.

Re: Radiohead - The new Pink Floyd?

Not really the end of the song, but the part with all the harmony vocals. I know the end of the song returns to the main riff... but the part before that sounds a bit like ASoS.

Re: Radiohead - The new Pink Floyd?

Yep. That's the part I'm talking about.

Even if it doesen't sound like ASoS, then it is still a great part.

:santasmil:

Yeah, I know that has nothing to do with Radiohead, but it seems pretty odd.

BTW, early on in the thread I mentioned which songs give me the chills for resembling (though usually slightly) the Floyd. I forgot one. There's a part at the end of "Climbing up the Walls" that to me is strongly evocative of the Floyd: the "siren" noise reminds me of Welcome to the Machine--and I don't know of any particular song that organ sounds like, but I'm assuming it's Hammond or meant to sound like one, and it's like a creepy echo of the Floyd. Sort of understated in the way it's applied, which is probably what gives it the resemblance...

Re: Radiohead - The new Pink Floyd?

They have said that they like the Floyd. Or at least Jonny Greenwood has.

Re: Radiohead - The new Pink Floyd?

The labeling of Radiohead as the new PF has been well documented. But it is unfair for Radiohead. I think they follow the same experimental pattrens of the Floyd (which is great), and Tom has said he is a big fan.

To me a band like Incubus also follows that pattern without being "the new PF".
