Roger re-reforming Pink Floyd

One thing that popped up in my mind recently. What if, hypothetically, Roger decides to re-reform Pink Floyd, with the members who wants to join him, for example, Nick and Rick. This is of course without Dave, because he is the leader at the present time. Can Roger do this, if I wants to. Not that I think he will, but I think that s the only way we'll ever see the Floyd on the road again.

No he can not. Unless Dave leaves the band.

Re: Roger re-reforming Pink Floyd

What will he call them. Pink Floyd 2? The New Pink Floyd? Roger Waters Pink Floyd band? Blue Floyd? Who would he have on lead guitar Eric Clapton? Chas and Dave as backing singers? Will he have to turn the inflatable pig into an inflatable boar? Would they make Joy Division would like a comedy band etc!

BANG! You're dead.

I posed this very question in one of the Live-8 threads.

No, Syd Barrett.

Or if he's not available they could get Bob Klose.

Or Jeff Beck like they originally wanted to, right?

Re: Roger re-reforming Pink Floyd

is dave the leade? i was under the impression that it was an equal partnership. the mtor album, it only shows dave and nick in the pics, even though rick played on the album, the he officially rejoined the band on tdb, so i would think that if rog re-enlisted, it should go back to a 4way partnership, at least, imho, thats the way it should work.

Re: Roger re-reforming Pink Floyd

I think that the 1985 court case stated that Dave had control over the Pink Floyd name. I could be wrong though. I HOPE I'm wrong!

Re: Roger re-reforming Pink Floyd

The case was never settled in court, Roger relinquished his control over the usage of the band's name in exchange for complete dissolution of his management contract with Steve O'Rourke (see Inside Out).

To some extent, yes. Only Roger may give permission to mount a Wall show. But the Final Cut reissue of last year could very well have had nothing to do with Rog, as far as we know. Whatever is done with the back catalogue in terms of reissues and archival releases could be entirely executed by the three remaining members without even consulting him, since they out-vote Waters in the four-way shareholders' arrangement. I imagine that this annoys Roger to no end.

I'm don't know if Roger had anything to do with it, but he was the only one who talked to the press about the release.

Of course he is the only one who has anything interesting to say about the album. And I can't imagine any of the other band members really care about the reissue.

Re: Roger re-reforming Pink Floyd

Honestly, I like Dave and Roger equally. I think they both brought different and wonderful things to the table. For example, two of my favorite albums are The Final Cut and The Division Bell. One is a Waters masterpeice, while the other is Dave. However, I can accept Floyd without Roger, though his lyrics and songwriting are missed. But I just cannot picture the Floyd without Dave's guitar and voice. I am in no way saying Waters sucks or that I thing Dave is more 'Pink'. I love Waters' solo works and I respect his role in the Floyd totally.
