Public Enemy

Although it is likely that most of you hold the theory "you can't spell crap without rap", rap is not always about having b****es and hoe's. If there is one rap group that especially deserves attention it would be Public Enemy. Not only because of their revolutionary politics but imho great music. I will most likely get flamed for discussing rap on this board but I happen to like lots of different music. What do you all think of Public Enemy? Give it up.

I'm a big fan of public enemy, and quite a lot of music in that genre but more hi hoppy such as Outkast and De La Soul

Yea that stuff is fun, but I like my music to talk about important things, not that having a good time ain't important but sometimes it seems to be the only thing mainstream hip hop talks about nowadays either that or on the other spectrum (e.g. 50 cent, the only artist with his value as his name) 'b****es and hoes' which is definitely worse than the party stuff but yea...you know what I mean.

Re: Public Enemy

The Beastie Boys are another example of a band getting rid of the usual rap pre-ocupations yes they used to be a bit juvenile and childish but they devevloped as a band over the years and their latest cd to the 5 boroughs is a great album.
