| Re: tommy by the who (the movie not the album) I don't know how I missed this thread, I must have been on something. But, I think Tommy is best as an album, though the movie does clear up some bits of it. Come to think of it, though I love the Who, and I loved the album of Tommy for a very long time, I just can't be "arsed into" sitting there and listening to it all the way through. Maybe my attention span is getting shorter. Also, Townshend is a decent bet for good rock operas. Lifehouse seemed like a pretty neat idea, and if it turned out Who's Next, it couldn't have been half bad musically. Quadrophenia, as well, kicks some ass. Then again, I never heard Psychoderelict, or however you spell it. Once again, I don't like Led Zeppelin. I saw the video for John Bonham's ungodly drum solo, with shots of him and his kids frolicking in a field or something in between...I just didn't get it. |

| Re: tommy by the who (the movie not the album) Tommy changed my whole life when it came out. Before that I was just dabbling on the guitar.I was 16 in 1969 when it came out.I went out and bought a used Gibson SG because that was what Pete was playing.I've still got it.I've been a monster Who fan ever since.Pre-Keith Moons passing that is.Anything other then Moon is a travesty.Sorry K.Jones, but I think you know it.Although,Zak does a great job. |

| Re: tommy by the who (the movie not the album) What got me about the movie is that my favorite song from the album was left off. I don't know what it's called, but it's track five. It's the one that they play on that movie "Almost Famous."

| Re: tommy by the who (the movie not the album) I LOVE the movie and I'm currently trying to find the Movie spoundtrack on CD...I was reading the posts about this movie and was wondering if anyone caught the fact that it was an abstract allegory of the Gospel? I mean, perhaps I read into it too much, but a lot of the scene from the movie( Falling from the mirror into the pool' baptism', Born on V.day 'day of peace'). But even if I'm full of poop or pointing out the obvious, which I have a tendency to do kiddies, the whole shebang is great. My fave track? Chapaign with Ann Margret. Damn she can sing....
