I have never tried to cry silently in my life until today.

Today was the funeral for my great grandfather. My mom and I were ready to go to the church, so we got in the car. I usually don't touch the radio, but I changed the station to 98.1 (classic rock). A song had just ended and a new song began. The new song was Wish You Were Here.

It reminded me of my grandfather, who died when I was two. It also reminded me of how far apart my mom and I are. Tears started streaming down my face whenever the line "we're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl" was sung. I hate crying, especially in front of people.

I felt I had to share that.

Sorry about the loss of your Grandfather, Sock.

The right song at the right time can do that to you.

That's unfortunate, my great grandmother died a few years ago. It's sad to see someone who's always been full of life pass away.

I guess WYWH applies to certain contexts other than Syd's, right Jawbone?

Sorry to hear about your loss, SockPuppet60. My thoughts are with you and your family. Also, I completely understand what you mean about being emotionally affected by music. Last semester was quite rough for me, and one night I was feeling particularly lonely when "How Many Friends" by The Who came on. I completely broke down and started crying right there in front of my computer. It was really awful, and I'm quite glad my roommate was out of the room because I hate crying in front of people too. But yeah, I know where you're coming from, you're not alone.

Peace,
~Topazzz
