Mistaken Lyrics

Have you ever heard lyrics to a song and thought they were something completely different from the actual lyrics? This is your opportunity to confess your inability to decipher lyrics.

For me, when I first heard Pop Musik by "M", I thought the line "New York, London, Paris, Munich...", was "You don't need no Paris eunuch...".

Re: Mistaken Lyrics

I always thought the lyrics to Smoke on the Water said
'But some stupid with a flagon burned the place to the ground'

instead of

'But some stupid with a flare gun burned the place to the ground'

I reckon it was Ian Gillans poor pronounciation, and not my hearing, which was at fault. I could never quite figure out how a 'flagon' could start a fire?

I remember this one, that I read from this very site, that I never forgot because it nearly killed me: "My head smelled just like tuba lube." instead of "My hands felt just like two balloons".

Re: Mistaken Lyrics

There's a song called "Access Denied." The line goes "and you're looking at me with that look of sheer disdain." I kept hearing it as "and you're looking at me with that look of shitty stain." Yeah, it made no sense to me, and I'm glad that that wasn't what it actually was!

Re: Mistaken Lyrics

When Madonna first released "Die Another Day", I thought she was singing, "I want to die, under the stage."

Re: Mistaken Lyrics

In the part of Alive (by Pearl Jam) when it says "Sorry you didn't see him, but I'm glad we talked" i tought it said "Sorry you didn't see him, but I'm playing guitar" (more likely "Guitah")

Re: Mistaken Lyrics

In "Message in a Bottle" (The Police), I thought the line "A year has passed since I wrote my note", was "A year has passed since I broke my nose".
