Re: Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix was one of the greatest guitar players who ever walked down here on Earth in this lifetime. It is a pity he was around that short. A lot of musicians tried to copy him, but none of them comes real close to his work. Really love his Music.

'Electric Ladyland', 'The Band Of Gypsies' and 'Radio One' for instance. Oh and I forget 'In The West'. And the song 'Little Wing' and "Voodoo Chile' and so on.

Guess he passed away much to soon.

Re: Jimi Hendrix

They all die too young, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin... litlle Wing? is that a Jimi song. Because I have a Stevie Ray Vaughan song on my computer called Little Wing so now I am confused. And the start of Voodoo child is absolutley amazing that sound, it kinda takes u over...

Re: Jimi Hendrix

Whatever one may think of the Princely Purple One, he CAN play the hell out of his guitar as well.

I was very impressed with his playing during his LOVESEXY concert in London.

Okay, he IS a bit of a God-botherer, and a fruitcake besides, but I don't let that stand in the way of enjoying his music.

Re: Jimi Hendrix

Yeah, Purple Princey is a good guitar player. A pretty nice guitar he has also in the clip 'Gold'. Listened to Jimi too I guess. Just like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ted Nugent and a couple of others. But they are good, all of them. Love the guitar playing so much. Anyone heard B.B. King play together on Rattle And Hum by U2? 'When Love Came To Town' the song is called, written by U2. Nice song but the guitar playing of B.B. King doesn't come out that good as in his other Music.

What about Gary Moore...'Still Got The Blues'? Wonderful guitar.

Re: Jimi Hendrix

No one EVER seems to mention Jeff Beck. Do you know he was asked to join the Floyd before they asked Gilmour, and he turned them down? Do you know that Wright asked him to play on Broken China and he refused? Do you know that even our Beloved Gilmour AND Wright have both said that Jeff Beck is their Guitar playing hero?

And if you haven't worked it out yet...did ya know I think he's the best guitar player ever?

I guess I'm just a little surprised that he never gets a mention here.

Re: Jimi Hendrix

I just honestly haven't heard any of his stuff. Obviously, I've heard of him, but I think that he's one of these guitarist's guitarists, if you know what I mean, so he doesn't get the airplay that might be afforded a Pink Floyd or some other such group. However, if you've got a few mates who play guitar, it's a good bet that you'd have heard a fair amount of his stuff by now.

If I'm wrong, fair enough.

Cheers,

Mark

Re: Jimi Hendrix

Actually I play guitar. But that isn't how I got into Jeff Beck's stuff. I heard his playing on ATD and went looking for more.
