Amp Question

Hi

I've had some problems with my amp lately. It's a Sound City 50w tube amp, very similar to Hiwatts, but I think this problem applies to all tube amps.
The sound is really bad. The volume hasn't decreased but it's like someone's put a blanket on my amp. It's lost most of the top freqs and it distorts even at low volumes. I get some popping noieses too, like when you touch the tip of a jack when it's connected.

Any ideas????? Is it the tubes or anything else?

Thanks

Riis

Re: Amp Question

I would get the tubes checked out. Definitely something burnt out in there somewhere... If not the tubes, perhaps the speaker?

Re: Amp Question

Yeah, I'd definitely check out the tubes. But it COULD be something else, but at least you know it's nothing that serious if it's still managing to make sound (no loss of volume or anything).
