Arrow Very interesting new "Wall" tribute album

Quote:
PURPLE PYRAMID PRESENTS BACK AGAINST THE WALL, THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE TRIBUTE EVER TO PINK FLOYD'S LEGENDARY THE WALL

PRODUCED BY BILLY SHERWOOD OF YES, THIS IMPRESSIVE HOMAGE INCLUDES
LEGENDARY ARTISTS, SUCH AS IAN ANDERSON, ADRIAN BELEW, KEITH EMERSON,
ROBBY KRIEGER, RICK WAKEMAN, MALCOM McDOWELL AND MANY MORE, RECREATING
ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST CELEBRATED ALBUMS

Limerick, PA - PURPLE PYRAMID is proud to announce BACK AGAINST THE
WALL, an impressive homage to PINK FLOYD' S legendary album, THE WALL, slated for a September 27, 2005 release date. Back Against the Wall features the most comprehensive collection of who's who in progressive rock ever assembled for this one time event.

The extraordinary line up of guest artists includes IAN ANDERSON,
ADRIAN BELEW, KEITH EMERSON, ROBBY KREIGER, RICK WAKEMAN, TOMMY SHAW,
STEVE LUKATHER, STEVE HOWE and BILLY SHERWOOD among many other
luminaries featured on this highly anticipated record. Malcolm
McDowell, acclaimed star of A Clockwork Orange performs the infamous
"The Trial" dialogue as well as the closing, "Isn't this where we came
in?" featured in the movie but never on the album.

BACK AGAINST THE WALL is a powerful audio tour-de-force sure to please
fans of the album and even the most skeptic of critics.

Having recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, The Wall remains one
of the definitive time tested progressive rock classics of all time.
As producer Billy Sherwood states, "When I was asked to produce Back
Against The Wall my first thoughts were to maintain the integrity and
credibility of the original. I felt it was best for the project to
cull musicians mostly from the progressive rock area of music. I
gathered many great artists to help me re-build The Wall. All the
artists involved poured their hearts and soul into this body of work
and it shows. It is with the utmost respect to Pink Floyd that we took
the challenge. I feel that we have honored the emotion of the original
while bringing out the individual personalities of all the guest
artists. This was truly a labor of love for everyone involved."

PURPLE PYRAMID is a subsidiary of indie giant Cleopatra Records, one
of the premier leading independent record labels in the world
featuring releases by an array of artist including THE GERMS, JOHNNY
THUNDERS, the godfather of electronic GARY NUMAN, CINDERELLA, QUIET RIOT, L.A. GUNS and YES just to name a few. Cleopatra Records and its
subsidiary labels are distributed exclusively by NAVARRE CORPORATION
in North America and CANADA.

Great lineup, cant see which track Keith Emerson is on...I don't usually grab tribute albums but this is an exception. Look at the names, great line up

The fact that the boys from Yes, (notably Steve Howe) is on it grabbed my attention.

Sounds interesting.

That's usually what I think, but with these names involved, you can't just brush this one aside.

And this isn't a rumor!

Re: Very interesting new "Wall" tribute album

I also dislike tribute albums and nothing can beat the original but the musicians there are amazing (Adrian Belew, Steve Morse, Tony Levin...). I will give it a try and I think it will be a nice and fresh "re-reading" of the classic. I don't think that those people are going to mess up anything, they know too well what they do.

Re: Very interesting new "Wall" tribute album

Sounds interesting. I read about it on delit.net before and I thought that it will be only a live show, not an album. (I guess I missed something since that was in russian and wasn`t that easy to read, because it was written with letters from Latin alphabet only, not Cyrilic).

The publcist for the release is based in Limerick. Just got my copy from them yesterday, but have been busy doing some landscape plumbing all weekend. Will give it a listen tonight, though. With the talent involved, I can only expect that it'll be quite good.
