Actually, I saw it the first time they ran it, when echoes was released. They show half of the Behind The Wall docu. that original aired on the other VH1. They also threw in some animations that were used with the big screen back in the 70's. Welcome To The Machine was one of them I think. And some videos, which I had never seen till then, from The Final Cut. NNJ edited? Get real.

I still can't get over the Arnold Layne video. It cracks me up. The video for The Final Cut is bad. It makes no sence. It seems like something an 8 year old put together. The highlite of that video was when they showed Roger singing to the shrink. Pretty funny stuff.

Remember, tonight at 9PM and 11PM on the regular VH1 is the new Pink Floyd: Legends documentary, and you can still get most of the stuff they're showing on VH1 Classic at Pink Floyd's official web site or on any of the file sharing programs out there.

The VH1 Legends episode was pretty good, but I didn't know that it was only going to be about Pink Floyd in relation to Syd. I suppose that they wanted to kill two birds with one stone and do a Floyd/Barrett episode, which turned out really cool since Floyd's best work sort of does revolve around Syd. It would have been nice if they mentioned Animals, Ummagumma, and Atom Heart Mother, but I suppose it would not have flowed well with the rest of the narrative. It's certainly great to see if you'reinterested in learning more about Syd. I would have preferred a more thorough overview of the post-Syd years though. I guess they were careful not to make another "Behind the Wall" episode since they spent so little time on what considered to be one of Floyd's seminal albums. What's good about the episode is that you sort of get a peek at what Glimour and Waters argued about creatively when they were together. I tend to agree more with Gilmour, who argues more in favor of having the music stand on it's own where as Waters just wanted to write lyrics and didn't really care so much about the music.
