The Verve

Well, I searched, but could not find any threads relating to the band called The Verve. I have only heard their latest album, Urban Hymns, but it is quite good. I recommend it to Floyd fans. If anyone knows any more about this band, or has opinions on this or their earlier albums, share it here

Re: The Verve

Urban Hymns is great, pity they split (again) not long after. You should check out Richard Ashcroft's solo albums too.

I bought Urban Hymn, loved it. I will have to look around for Richard Ashcroft's solo albums. Pity they split! I wondered what became of them.

Re: The Verve

Yeah, I've listened to the Verve a lot and they're quite good alright. I haven't heard any of Ashcroft's solo albums fully but I've heard the odd song, pretty impressive too. Somebody said that it's really good stuff. Even after some people didn't think he'd be as good solo...he was/is...apparently anyway.

Re: The Verve

Just to revive a dead thread... how about Ahscroft's performance at Live 8? Took me by surprise. Anyhow, I haven't been able to find any Ashcroft solo work, but I did pick up their first album, A Storm in Heaven. I like it, but it's not a 5 star album... not even a 4 star... more like a 3.5. The music is good, but it's production makes some of the lyrics unintelligible. The album has 3-4 memorable songs though, out of 11... so consider picking it up

Yes thats them, they split around 1998 or 99. Urban Hymns was a fine album, but i never thought much of their first two efforts.
